Herbal tinctures are a liquid preparation made by soaking the herb for several weeks in a blend of alcohol and water. The alcohol is able to extract chemicals from the plant material that water alone cannot; it also acts as a preservative, giving a long shelf life.
All our tinctures are manufactured by Phyto Pharmaceuticals Ltd, and comply with the stringent standards of European Pharmacopoeia and British Herbal Pharmacopoeia.
Because tinctures are concentrated, you only need a small amount. For medicinal purposes, add 20-40 drops of your tincture into fruit juice or water. 3 times a day.
For children or those who wish to avoid alcohol, pour just-boiled water onto the tincture and leave for 10 minutes. This evaporates off most of the alcohol.
